School Transition, Readiness
and Advocacy
Education is a basic human right for all people, which is protected under national and international law

Parent/carer participation is important and is integral to any support program. Parents/carers who are actively involved with their child's support plan often see more progress, resulting in better outcomes for the child. The resources page has more information about inclusive education.

Transition into the school environment can be difficult to navigate for parents of children with disabilities.
-
Many parents may not know the processes involved or how to advocate for their child with regard to support.
-
I provide consultations on school readiness and transitions.
-
Changes or adjustments may be needed to help a child participate on the same basis as other students
-
My approach is collaborative involving all stakeholders - parents, teachers, school admin, external providers and, most importantly, the child.

Support for Parents Navigating School Refusal
Is getting your child to school becoming a daily struggle?
-
Whether your child is experiencing anxiety, emotional dysregulation, or simply says they “hate school,” you’re not alone — and it’s not a reflection of your parenting. School refusal can be incredibly stressful for families, but with the right knowledge and support, things can get better. I work alongside parents to gently uncover what’s going on beneath the surface, and to build realistic, compassionate strategies that help your child feel safe, supported, and ready to re-engage — at their own pace.
